Well, it's been a blur! We are in our new home and all settled for the most part. We are very thankful for the ample space we now have. What an answered prayer! We have a pantry, a very large open kitchen, a garden tub (think future homebirths!), enormous living area, our lot is backed up to a green belt, we have lots of parking on our street, a wonderful peach tree that has already yielded a generous crop, and so much more that we are so grateful for.
Cody took the summer off from school for the move and will be returning this fall. Have I mentioned how proud I am of him? ;) Meanwhile, our homeschool has been taking lots of breaks, though we usually school through summer, to go swimming and fellowship with friends and to beat the heat! And what an incentive it is to finish school work early in time to go to the neighborhood pool!
Come this fall we will have the honor of witnessing the marriage of Cody's youngest brother to a family friend who is also a church member.
I've entered that oh so rare time of life (for me) when I'm not exactly 'tied down' to a baby who nurses very often and I'm not pregnant (read: sick and miserable). Don't misunderstand, I do see pregnancy as a blessing and part of God's means of pruning and refining my heart and I cherish the baby that comes with it, but it's certainly not my idea of fun to lie on the couch trying not to vomit for months at a time. But it's nice to have these months to taste a little independence, enjoy being thinner, conquer some projects, and even feel that longing for another baby. :)
I'm halfway through Les Miserables. Wow. I haven't picked up a piece of literature for myself in too long. All of the books I've read in the past years have been classics for children, which I do enjoy as well, or books on parenting, mothering, housekeeping, or devotional. Well, I'm not reading my book. I'm listening to it. It's an audio book. Oh, I love technology. I downloaded it free from the library. Read: Cody downloaded for me when I got frustrated. And I listen to it on the iPod while I'm cleaning house.
Now that we're settled, I'm pulling out the sewing machine and getting crafty again. I've made some skirts for myself and my oldest daughter, mended my cloth diapers, and I plan to get busy on some aprons.
Well, that's all I have time for. Have a beautiful day!
